Who / What

Jennie Lawless is an artist based in Los Angeles, California, where they make music, paintings, and poems. They grew up twenty miles northwest of Chicago in a strip-mall studded town in Illinois. Before moving to LA in 2019, Jennie released her debut EP, Two Songs, in 2018 while living and performing in Minneapolis and in 2021 released the 5-song EP, I Am Here To Make Friends (co-produced by Matty Bedrosian of Yummm). Her forthcoming record, Moody Age (set to be released Fall 2024 and co-produced by artist Will Ward of W2), is an attempt to talk to shadows. Shifting from the keys and learning guitar as a late bloomer, Jennie has approached a rawness never before exposed in their recordings.

In 2020, Jennie stumbled into painting as a new medium for their art. Drawn to expressive and colorful figurative paintings using acrylic and oils, Jennie has developed a style that manages to live inside the same playful, gritty world as her music and poems.
